Martin Short's firm response to Only Murders in the Building co-star Meryl Streep dating rumour
No, comedian Martin Short and Oscar-winner Meryl Streep are not dating.
So says Short, who has addressed the recent speculation that he and his Only Murders in the Building co-star are a couple.
During an appearance on Club Random with Bill Maher released on Sunday (Monday in Australia), the host joked about Short and Streep being a "power couple."

"We're not a couple, we are just very close friends," Short said.
Streep portrayed Loretta Durkin on Only Murders in the Building. The drama series stars Short, Steve Martin and Selena Gomez.
Maher responded that they should date "because there's nothing more powerful in Hollywood than a power couple."
There was chatter that Short and Streep may have been romantically involved after footage of them at the Golden Globe Awards in January showed them looking friendly.
"Are Meryl Streep and Martin Short dating… because if that's true… that's like Gene Wilder and Gilda Radner multiplied by Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft…" comedy writer Louis Virtel posted to X, formerly Twitter, after the awards show.
"Sitting with the knowledge that Meryl Streep and Martin Short might be in love but I have no proof," another X user wrote on the platform.

Social media users immediately speculated the friends Gomez was referencing were Short and Streep.
Shorts representatives later told The Messenger that he and Streep are "just very good friends, nothing more."
Short has been a widower since his wife Nancy Dolman died of ovarian cancer in 2010.
A representative for Streep confirmed last year that she and her husband of 45 years, Don Gummer, confirmed last year.
