Love Island UK: Fans are puzzled by Lucie's definition of 'bev'

Season 5 of Love Island UK kicked off on 9Now on Wednesday night, and saw 10 sexy singles enter the Villa — followed by two intruders, of course!

But with each new season of the hit reality show comes an onslaught of brand new slang — and this season, fans have been left scratching their heads at the introduction of a new term: Bev.
According to Love Island UK's Lucie Donlan, the term 'bev' describes an attractive gentleman.

"In the villa you're probably going to hear some new and weird words," the 21-year-old explained, before launching in her favourite phrase. "A bev is a hot guy. If he's your boyfriend he's your bev but if he's not your boyfriend he's a bev."
But fans of the show are puzzled with the phrase and the Mean Girls 'Stop trying to make fetch happen' gif has been doing the rounds on Twitter.

And, of course, some viewers are just unable to let go of the traditional ~ and correct ~ meaning of the word 'bev'.
We'll just have to see if it takes off...
