Love Is Blind star Shaina Hurley diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy

Love is Blind star Shaina Hurley considered her pregnancy a "miracle" having previously suffered a miscarriage.

Hurley, 34, was thrilled to share she was expecting her first child with husband Christos Lardakis.

It was three months into her pregnancy that she was given devastating news. The reality star was told she has Stage 2 cervical cancer.

She had "no symptoms".

"But later, the doctor called me and said the pap smear results had come back as abnormal and they needed to get me in for a colposcopy," she told PEOPLE.

Hurley tried to stay strong but admits she "felt the fear creeping in".

"I had to go into survival mode and tell God, 'I trust you.' I just prayed for the best, at the end of the day," she says.

Hurley faced some difficult choices when she was faced with procedures that may put her pregnancy at risk, including one to remove tissue from her cervix to see how far the cancer had spread

"The problem is, I was pregnant. [The] cervix is what holds pregnancy. I was at just around three months and so I would most likely lose the baby," Hurley explains.

"At that point, I just couldn't risk it."

A laparoscopic surgery confirmed the cancer had not spread to her lymph nodes. Chemotherapy was suggested, however Hurley decided not to go ahead with it for the duration of her pregnancy.

Instead, it was suggested she would deliver her baby at 32 weeks so she could begin life-saving treatment.

"I felt it was too early," she says. "I took the risk and pushed it to 37-and-a-half weeks and delivered a healthy baby boy."

Her son named Yiorgos David was born on February 1 via caesarean section.

Shortly after, she suffered a mini-stroke.

"I was feeding my son and my hands went numb and then it shot down the left side of my body. My face drooped, I wasn't making sense," she says.

Hurley recovered and then underwent surgery twice.

"As of June, I'm finally cancer-free," she says, adding that she undergoes check-ups every three months.

For now, she is focusing on motherhood, sharing special moments on Instagram with her 241,000 followers.

"I can't believe my baby is 6 months old," she shared recently. "You guys weren't lying, it goes by so fast!

"You make us so happy Yiorgos. Cherishing every moment is this precious season."

For Mother's Day in the UK she shared a video and photos, writing: "We are so blessed #happymothersday."

And in a series of photos taken by the beach, she shared: "I am in love with being your mommy Yiorgos. I do not take this gift lightly.

"Happy early Mother's Day to all the mothers. The ones who have lost, the mothers in waiting, the mothers who are struggling and the ones who should be mothers, but are having difficulty with fertility, the step mothers and the women who play that mother role in people's lives," she continued.

"Being one who has suffered miscarriages, my heart sees you and feels you. Especially on Mother's Day - I will be praying for all of you."
