Kylie Minogue reveals she had a nervous breakdown after split with Joshua Sasse
Kylie Minogue has revealed she had a "nervous breakdown" after splitting with fiancé Joshua Sasse in February last year.
Despite a nearly 20 year age gap -- Minogue, 49, and Sasse, 30, met on the set of US series Galavant in 2015 and hit it off right away. An ensuing whirlwind romance and engagement followed, however it wasn’t long before infidelity rumours started to spread that the No Tomorrow actor had grown too close with his co-star Marta Milans, allegedly leading to the couple's separation.
Speaking to The Sunday Times, the Australian singer spoke of how she ran away to Thailand with her girlfriends for six days to recover from the breakup which had left her heartbroken.
"I just wanted to stop," she said.
"I knew I needed to heal my… My physical system was compromised. I think it’s called a nervous breakdown."
In the candid interview, the pop star stated that Thailand was a chance to "reclaim myself and get strong and get going", adding that after just six days she felt "absolutely calm".
Breakups are never easy, yet Minogue has managed to keep a positive outlook about the future.
"I went through all the motions of 'this is what people do'," she said to The Sunday Times.
"And it wasn’t the right union. I’ve never been that woman, that girl who dreams of walking down the aisle. You dust yourself off and you go through that period of 'Never again. Not going to do it.'"
