Kylie Minogue ‘nervous’ ahead of AFL Grand Final performance after wrapping world tour

Aussie superstar Kylie Minogue has admitted she’s “nervous” to headline the 2026 AFL Grand Final show on Saturday.

The two-time Grammy winner, 58, who is gearing up for the performance appears to be hoping it will be less brutal than her 66-date Tension Tour last year.

“I am nervous, excited right now. I am all those things,” said Minogue during a pre-show press conference in Melbourne, reported by The Sun on Friday.

“When it comes to just about to go on, maybe I will feel right at home. I don’t know.”

The Padam Padam singer, who wrapped her six-month world tour in August 2025, admitted by the end of it, “I think I crawled over the finish line”.

Minogue said she “honestly” felt like she bruised her rib from the high-altitude performances in Latin America. She felt the heatwave in Europe too.

“I had to try and look after my knees and my lungs,” she went on.

Minogue’s performance on Saturday is tipped to be a 20-minute set with about 100 backup dancers as the star belts out her biggest hits on a rotating stage.

She compared pulling off the performance to being in a “team sport”, acknowledging the huge team behind the show who have shown their support.

The Can’t Get You Out Of My Head hitmaker then explained why she was feeling nervous so suddenly.

“The self-talk in your brain leading up to any important gig is this: ‘You can do it, you can’t do it.’ ‘This is going to go right, this is going to go wrong.’ ‘What if? Maybe?’” she added.

Minogue’s big performance comes after the singer made another career announcement earlier this month.

In early September, the singer revealed she will soon be performing her first stadium shows in the United States, joining Harry Styles as the opener for freshly announced Los Angeles tour dates.

The pop princess will join Styles for four shows in Los Angeles in April at Rose Bowl Stadium.

“Together, Together. Harry. Me. Can’t WAIT to see you in April, LA,” Minogue announced on social media at the time.

Although some fans questioned whether it should be Styles opening up for Minogue.

The former One Direction star is set to perform two dates in Sydney at Accor Stadium in December with English signer-songwriter Skye Newman as his special guest.
