Kyle Sandilands’ Live show opens on Tuesday with a completely different experience

Kyle Sandilands and his team have kicked off day two of his new venture by admitting the debut episode was a disaster.

On Tuesday, before the live stream had even started, the episode link was up and titled ‘Hopefully today’s better…’ and within the opening minutes of the show it seemed as though many of the early teething issues had been resolved. 

As Sandilands opened the show he explained that on this day, four years ago, it was a very momentous occasion: the birth of his first child, Otto. 

The shock jock chatted with Mary and Brooklyn and the mics were clear, no echo or delay and a very different listening experience to Monday morning. 

The banter back and forth had the essence of what listeners have come to love from Sandilands over the years and it seemed as though he was back in his element. 

Brooklyn’s first news bulletin of the day, which went to air around 6:13am, was seamless and despite Sandilands making it clear he didn’t really care for the news, he got right into it.

As the show continued the graphics appeared with information straps at the bottom of the screen flashing up with who was on the phone and with updated details as the call continued, looking very professional.

A call with Lachy the Geek to chat about his new girlfriend and it was a night and day difference to the callers Sandilands tried to wrangle on the debut show.

While the call quickly moved into graphic details and questions about his sex life, proving that Sandilands is sticking with the shock value, the fact that there’s no censor is something they’re really embracing.

There was a slight issue with some buttons failing to work just before 6:50am, with Sandilands struggling to get Bruno Bouchet to respond to his question.

The host blamed the buttons, but just as quickly as it started it seemed to be resolved.

The biggest problem wasn’t actually the gear, rather the crew in the control room failing to mute their mics and chatting in the background – which carried over into the live stream.

Sandilands is back behind the golden mic for his new live show, with subscribers forking out a $99 yearly subscription in advance to listen. 

But the debut show on August 10 proved to be full of teething issues, tech problems and even a hard-reset where the live show was terminated just after 7am in an attempt to fix things. 

“It’s going to terminate everything,” Bouchet told Sandilands as they debated the decision.

The show disappeared for 30 seconds with all live streams dumped.

Despite the big move, it didn’t do much to help. 

At one point during the opening show Sandilands, who was fed up with the ongoing problems, got up from behind the mic and went to talk to the team and demand answers. 

“Did anyone test any of the things that seem to be failing today?” Sandilands, clearly getting frustrated, asked.
