Kyle Sandilands' brother in a coma after horrific motorbike accident ​

Kyle Sandilands revealed his younger brother is in a coma after he suffered a motorbike accident.

The 46-year-old shared the news on air this morning, telling his Kyle and Jackie O co-host that his brother Chris is in a 'critical' condition.

"He'd hit his head. He's got major breakages — broken his arm, his femur, eight ribs, shattered pelvis," Kyle revealed.

"He's in an induced coma, he's had two operations so far and he's gotta have another one. Just a nightmare. Mum's upset and crying. She was hysterical on the phone."

Kyle explained his brother was airlifted to hospital following the accident.

"He's in ICU. He's still critical and they're going to wake him up tomorrow," he said. "The good news is they can't see any bleeding on the brain."

Once awake, Chris will be wheelchair-bound for an extended period of time.

"The poor bastard's going to be in a wheelchair for six months," Kyle said. "I'm just glad he's alive, thank god."

The devastating crash comes just months after Kyle's dad Peter died after battling cancer.

In March, Kyle revealed his father, with whom he'd had a tumultuous relationship, had passed away.

"The doctors said he would probably pass away during that week I wasn't going to be in the country," he revealed live on air.

"I went up, spoke to him — my brother and I had a nice visit. He was suffering — he had liver cancer and bowel cancer."

Kyle said he'd joked to his father, "don't you die while I'm away, it'd ruin the trip".

His father ended up passing away as Kyle arrived back in Australia.

Kyle had only recently repaired their somewhat difficult relationship, describing it as "a messy 10 years".
