Inside Twilight star Kristen Stewart's little-known Australian connection: 'I love Australia'

She's one of Hollywood's biggest stars, having appeared in a number of box office hits over the years, but some fans may not realise Kristen Stewart has a surprising Aussie connection.

Her mother, script supervisor, filmmaker and writer Jules Mann-Stewart, 65, is actually Australian and hails from Queensland's Maroochydore.

Mann-Stewart was previously married to Kristen's father, American stage manager, director and TV producer John Stewart.

Kristen, 35, who is known for the likes of Twilight, Spencer and Snow White and The Huntsman, previously gushed about Australia in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald.

"I love Australia and we have a lot of great family and friends down there. I can't wait to get back," she told the publication back in 2009.

Stewart also said she "likes'' Vegemite, and reportedly has a border collie called Oz, in a nod to her background.

She previously told Hart to Heart that her parents' careers inspired her own.

"My mom was a script supervisor and my dad was a stage manager forever, my whole life," she said.

"I just wanted to hang out and make movies because my parents did that," she added.

Back in 2015, Jules shared a sweet image of Kristen on her Instagram account and wrote: "Love love love my kids."

She also shared a black and white photo of Kristen when she was little and wrote: "Once upon a time in the land of Oz."

Despite having an Australian mother, Kristen was born in Los Angeles, California.

It comes after TMZ reported that Kristen had tied the knot with partner of six years, Dylan Meyer, in Los Angeles.

The publication reports the couple had previously obtained a marriage license.
