Kelly Clarkson jokes she'll be 'single forever' following divorce from Brandon Blackstock

Kelly Clarkson has admitted she's not good at dating as she opens up about life following her split from husband Brandon Blackstock.

The singer made the revelation on her self-titled talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, telling guest Andy Cohen he needs to share tips with her as they discussed the realities of dating.

Clarkson said she should really adopt Cohen's "cut and run" technique, which he utilises when he sees a dating red flag. Instead, she said she always misses the signs and stays put.

"I'm not good at that. I'm always that person that's like, 'Oh, I don't know. Maybe they were having an off day,'" she told Cohen. "We should hang out so that rubs off [on me]."

Cohen then said he liked to go for cocktails on his dates, but the singer says she prefers coffee dates. 

"I don't know. I might be more of a coffee person. I don't know if I'm willing to invest in an evening with you yet," she said before joking, I'll be single forever."

Clarkson split from Blackstock — her former manager — in June 2020 after nearly seven years of marriage. The couple share two children — daughter River, seven, and son Remington, five — who they co-parent.

"It's horrible. There are so many hard parts. The hardest for me is the kids. That's the hardest for me," she said on her show in December 2020. "I think as women we are trained … to take it all on and you can deal with it and you're fine, but it's your babies that you worry about."
