Keith Urban is returning to Australia to host the ARIA Awards

Keith Urban is gearing up to host the 32nd annual ARIA Awards at The Star in Sydney on November 28.

In a video released by organisers today, the Aussie singer expressed his excitement over landing the gig, which sees him making his first ARIAs appearance since 2007.

"I'm really looking forward to coming home and celebrating an incredible year of Australian music," Urban said in the video. "There's been so many impressive releases this year. It's gonna be a tough competition, but we get to recognise and honour the best of the best at Aussie music's night of nights."

But the hosting gig didn't come easily for the 50-year-old singer. Seasoned entertainment editor Richard Wilkins put Urban through his paces in a hilarious skit which aired on the TODAY show this morning, where he made the muso prove he was the best person for the "top job."

But Urban certainly delivered, and even whipped out his five ARIA trophies for good measure.

"The job is yours on two provisos. You have to perform for us -- you're going to do a nice, fat guitar solo, shredding and stuff like that. And you gotta bring the missus, [Nicole Kidman]," said Wilkins.

Done and done, according to Urban, who then joked, "I'll bring Nic. I'll get her to play a solo."
