Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom break up, require 'respectful, loving space'

After one year together, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have called it quits on their relationship.

"Before rumors or falsifications get out of hand we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time," a representative for the pair told US Weekly.

Considering the pair were together at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party on February 27, the need for respectful, loving space appears sudden.

And just yesterday, Orlando, 40, posted a photo of himself holding 32-year-old Katy's dog Butters, with the caption 'A mighty heart.'

The elusive couple began dating after hitting it off at a Golden Globes after-party in January 2016. And by August, Orlando was paddleboarding in the buff with his love Katy in tow.

Back in September, the pop singer told Women's Wear Daily that the couple's distance caused some frustrations in their relationship.

"My boyfriend lives in Malibu," the Santa Barbara-based singer said, "and getting used to that [drive across Los Angeles] was like, ‘Are you kidding me? What kind of life is this?'"

Prior to dating the Lord of the Rings star, Katy was in a relationship with singer John Mayer until 2015.She was also previously married to comedian Russell Brand, while Orlando wed our own Miranda Kerr until 2013. Orlando and Miranda share 6-year-old son, Flynn.
