Kate Upton flashes huge diamond ring at the Met Gala, reveals engagement to baseball star

The Met Gala is all about fashion, and Kate Upton's latest accessory drew plenty of attention on the red carpet.

The 23-year-old model-actress flashed a massive diamond ring, given to her by boyfriend Justin Verlander…who we can now safely say has graduated to fiancé status.

"I'm really excited," Kate told E! News. "He asked me right before season started so we've been keeping it on the down low for quite a while. So I'm excited to finally be able to share it with the world!"

Kate has been dating the 33-year-old athlete for three years and says she's not in a hurry to rush down the aisle with her baseball beau. "We are enjoying the engagement period," she said.

According to the sports star, who signed a $180m contract in 2013 with the Detroit Tigers, his relationship with the mega famous bombshell works because they are actually totally "normal".

"Kate's there a lot for me," he told Forbes last year. "And we're just normal people. You know, a normal relationship -believe it or not."
