Kate Moss reveals her surprising career move hosting a new podcast series on David Bowie: 'He was a very special person'

Kate Moss has unveiled her surprising new career move.

The British supermodel, 51, who hails from the UK's Croydon, might be used to strutting down the catwalk, but this time she's hosting a new eight-part podcast series.

The podcast, from BBC Radio 6 Music, is called Music Uncovered, David Bowie: Changeling and will highlight certain years of the late musician's career.

Moss was a friend of the late singer, who died in January 2016, and spoke about their friendship in a statement.

The podcast will explore the years of 1970-1975 for Bowie.

"David Bowie was a very special person. Someone who was much more than a friend - he was an enigma," Moss said.

She went on to call Bowie "a true British icon".

"So, when the chance came to dive into this extraordinary five-year chapter of Bowie's life for 6 Music and BBC Sounds, hearing from those who joined him on his creative journey and those he continues to inspire, I was excited to help share the story of such an incredible transformation.

"This podcast is a real celebration of my friend, a true British icon."

It will launch in September.

Moss is one of the most iconic supermodels of all time, who rose to fame in the '90s.

It comes after fellow supermodel Tyra Banks told 9honey Celebrity about seeing Moss backstage at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show last year where they both walked the runway.

"She came [up] and I didn't have my glasses on, I'm near-sighted, but I didn't know who it was, came to a makeup mirror cause there was 50 of us in one room and sat down and goes, 'Hi Tyra!' And I was like, 'Hiii!'"

"But I didn't know who it was. I should probably DM her or something. We're not friends, we weren't friends [during their modelling careers], but we weren't enemies."

"But the hello she gave me was so touching, because we weren't friends back in the day, so It just was like, 'Ohhhh.' It touched my heart, touched my heart," she said.

"I have to DM her or something. But there were those type of moments."
