Justin Theroux has revealed that his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston once swore she'd never join Instagram.

The former couple were married for almost three years before they split in February 2018, and during their marriage Theroux said Aniston never showed any interest in the photo-sharing platform.

"She has sworn she was not gonna do it, and then she did it," Theroux told Extra TV while promoting his new live-action movie, Lady and the Tramp.

Nevertheless, the 48-year-old actor said he was proud of Aniston for opening an account as now people will see how fantastic and funny she is away from the big screen.

"I'm so proud of her — I thought it was so great," Theroux said of his ex, who reached one million followers in under six hours and now has 15.8 million followers; the actor has 729,000 followers. "The world's about to learn what a hilarious woman she is, if they don't already… She's gonna be good at this."

Theroux — who follows Aniston on the app and vice versa — also showed his support when the actress posted her very first photo, which featured herself and all six of her Friends castmates, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer.

"And now we're Instagram FRIENDS too. HI INSTAGRAM," she captioned the October 16 pic, in which Theroux was one of the first to comment, writing, "Woot-Woot! #first."

The couple were together for a total of seven years and have remained in touch despite going their separate ways. Months before Aniston even joined Instagram, Theroux gave her a shoutout on her 50th birthday in February.

"Happy Birthday to this fierce Woman," he captioned a black-and-white pic of Aniston. "Fiercely loving. Fiercely kind. ....and fiercely funny. [Love heart emoji] you B."

Last December, Aniston opened up about her marriages to Theroux and first husband Brad Pitt, who she was married to between 2000 and 2005.

"I don't feel a void. I really don't," she told US Elle magazine. "My marriages, they've been very successful, in [my] personal opinion. And when they came to an end, it was a choice that was made because we chose to be happy, and sometimes happiness didn't exist within that arrangement anymore. Sure, there were bumps, and not every moment felt fantastic, obviously, but at the end of it, this is our one life and I would not stay in a situation out of fear."
