Justin Theroux's heart is definitely in the right place.

The Leftovers star used Instagram to support a truly great cause, and called on ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, 50, for some help. On Friday, Theroux, 48, shared a series of photos from an animal shelter in Ventura Country, California, asking his followers to consider adopting one of four pitbull dogs. And the kicker? He'd already paid for all of their adoption fees!

Theroux, who owns pitbull Kuma, captioned the post, "KUMA had a rough day...We were working in Ventura and wouldn't you know it? We just HAPPENED to be RIGHT NEXT to @vcanimalservices. KUMA had a feeling there might be some amazing puppies in there SO, we went over to meet some of them... and the human SAINTS that take care of them. We met SOME SERIOUSLY CUTE PUPS.... Like ZUMO, SHOTTI ... A puppy that doesn't even HAVE name yet... AND... a very scared STELLA that was too scared to even say hi to us. (all pictured here)"

He continued, "KUMA used to be JUST like them... without a forever home. SO!!! She DEMANDED that we do something! At the very least, she made sure it was easy to adopt them....ALL of their adoption fees have been paid... Now ALL they need is an amazing Human who is committed to taking care of them. It sounds like a lot, but you'll soon see... once rescued, they take care of you. So if you're in the Ventura area... ZUMO, SHOTTI, NO NAME, and STELLA would love a visit... and of course... more than anything, would love to take care of you."

Tagging Aniston, who recently joined Instagram, he wrote, "Yep, now that you're on here, your gonna get this a lot too," adding a smiley face emoji. The Hollywood star also tagged singer-actress Selena Gomez.

Theroux's Instagram note to Aniston, whom he was married to from 2015 until 2017, comes three months after they reunited to mourn the passing of Dolly, the dog they shared while still together.

Theroux shared a photo of himself holding hands with Aniston after Dolly's death. Instagram

Sharing a photo of their late rescue dog, as well as one of him holding hands with Aniston as they farewelled her, Theroux wrote on Instagram, "Tonight, at sunset, after a heroic struggle... our most loyal family member and protector, Dolly A. laid down her sword and shield."

"She was surrounded by her entire family," he concluded.
