Marvel star Jonathan Majors denies wrongdoing after arrest in New York City for alleged assault

Marvel star Jonathan Majors has denied wrongdoing via a representative after being arrested in New York City on allegations of domestic violence.

According to a statement from the NYPD, obtained by multiple outlets including Variety, Majors was arrested on Saturday morning (Sunday in Australia) after a dispute with a 30-year-old woman, who claims she was assaulted and was taken to hospital in a stable condition with "minor injuries to her head and neck."

A representative for Majors, 33, denied the allegations in a statement to the outlet.

"He has done nothing wrong," a representative for Majors said in a statement obtained by Variety. "We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up."

Majors, according to the police statement, was "placed into custody without incident" after officers received a 911 call. He has since been released from custody, according to the Associated Press.

It is unclear if he has been charged at this stage, however, the police statement listed several potential charges: "strangulation", "harassment" and "assault".

Majors has shot to fame with his recent work in several major studio films.

In Creed III, he played Damian Anderson opposite director and co-star Michael B. Jordan.

He also signed a multi-picture deal with Marvel, where he plays the villain Kang the Conqueror, most recently appearing as the character in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and in the television series Loki before that.
