Jon Bon Jovi returns to his high school as auditorium is named after him

Jon Bon Jovi has been honoured with an auditorium in New Jersey being named after him.

The rockstar, 63, journeyed back to Parlin to pay a special visit to his former high school, Sayreville War Memorial High School.

The Livin' on a Prayer singer attended the dedication ceremony of the newly-renamed Jon Bon Jovi Performing Arts Center.

According to ABC7, Bon Jovi was transferred to Sayreville for high school during his junior and senior years.

"I missed my senior prom because I was over opening for Southside Johnny at Freehold Raceway," the singer told the publication.

While at the school in the late '70s, Bon Jovi placed second in his first live stage performance in the talent competition. 

After Bon Jovi donated a new recording studio to the school, he shared moments of his day on Instagram.

The singer wrote: "So humbled that Sayreville High named their performing arts centre yesterday.

"Thanks to the students who painted this mural and the faculty who made this day so special.

Bon Jovi also referenced a photo within his post: "And in frame three this is Coach T from our song Just Older!!! It was great to see him and the future of Sayreville ...

"Once a Bomber always a Bomber … JBJ," he concluded.

Sayreville War Memorial High School also posted moments of the day to its Instagram account, revealing its music suite has also been renamed in Bon Jovi's honour.

"On Tuesday, October 1st, 2024, Sayreville graduate Jon Bon Jovi visited our school to accept his nomination into to SWMHS Hall of Fame and attend the ribbon cutting ceremony of the renaming of the music suite, the Jon Bon Jovi Music Suite and the Jon Bon Jovi Performing Arts Center. 

"Jon was also gracious enough to participate in a question and answer segment with our students, and take pictures and sign autographs. In return, Jon donated a brand new, state of the art, recording studio to the HS performing arts department and well as a commemorative t-shirt.

"We are so grateful for his donations and the students and staff will remember this day forever. Thank you @bonjovi @jonbonjovi," the post ended.
