JoJo Siwa reacts to Miley Cyrus' comment about her sexuality: 'Not what the world needs to hear'

JoJo Siwa has responded to Miley Cyrus' recent comments about her sexuality amid her new relationship with her Celebrity Big Brother UK housemate, Chris Hughes.

The Dance Moms alum, 22, shared her reply after Cyrus was seen in a video message to fans at World Pride DC on June 7, wishing them a happy Pride from inside her closet.

"Oh, my God, I haven't been in here since sixth grade," Cyrus, 32, said. "Enjoy coming out of the closet if this Pride is the time for you. It shouldn't be a month – it should be a year, it should be infinite."

She then appeared to make a joke about Siwa and Hughes' relationship, adding: "I'm going back inside to get more pretzels and find JoJo Siwa and bring her back out."

A few days later, Siwa decided to respond to the moment with photos of herself at a Hannah Montana-themed party when she was just five years old – the character Cyrus played for years.

"I was happy at my 5th birthday having a Miley themed party, and I'm still happy now at 22… If you know me, you know that Miley is my day one, grew up beyond inspired by her from two years old on…" she began.

"I wasn't sure how I felt about things for a couple of days… but I've started to come to some thoughts."

The Karma singer added: "I don't believe what Miley said at world pride was ill-intended, honestly I think it was meant to be a joke, but just not very good one haha. Not what the world, or myself needs to hear any day of the week."

She concluded that she messaged Cyrus light heartedly about the message and proving there's no bad blood, she responded: "All love, always."

Siwa, who opened up about her gender fluidity in the Celebrity Big Brother house, also shared a touching message about her sexuality.

"Honestly the most beautiful thing I've learned in the last 5 years is that love is a gorgeous rainbow. Don't question yourself, don't second guess yourself, just love. Love love love love love.❤️," she continued.

"People judge no matter what, and it can be very hard, especially when it comes from someone you love, and look up to… but if you feel happy and content with yourself, that's most important.

"You get one life, hold onto it, make it yours, find your happy, and love."

Siwa has soared to headlines in recent months, after entering the Celebrity Big Brother UK house with a partner on the outside – Australian influencer Kath Ebbs.

The singer sparked up a friendship with Hughes in the house, and when Ebbs arrived to greet her she was dumped at the CBB wrap party after flying from Australia to London.

Siwa said Hughes had nothing to do with the decision, and that their relationship was platonic.

But since leaving the house, they've now officially confirmed they're an item after things turned romantic after leaving the show.
