Johnny Ruffo's girlfriend Tahnee Sims speaks out after his second battle with brain cancer
Johnny Ruffo's girlfriend, Tahnee Sims, has spoken out about the actor's devastating brain cancer battle.
Sims, 27, shared a tribute to the former Home and Away star, 32, via Instagram on Monday, after he announced the disease has returned for the second time.
"What a superstar," she captioned the sweet post, which featured several black and white selfies of the couple.
The pair, who have been dating since 2015, received a number of supportive comments from friends and fans.
"Sending strength and healing. Dynamic duo!!!!!!" one user wrote.
Last week, Ruffo revealed that his brain cancer had returned in a heartbreaking statement.
"After an unexpected week of seizures and excruciating headaches it is with a heavy heart that I have to let you know I now have another huge battle ahead of me as my brain cancer has returned," he wrote in his caption. "Though I will dig deep and beat this s--- disease again. #f--- cancer."
The actor was first diagnosed with cancer in 2017. He underwent life-saving surgery to successfully remove a 7cm tumour.
Ruffo told Today Extra that it was Sims who had to give doctors permission to perform brain surgery and that he went into a coma after the operation, waking up two days later.
"She had to sign the forms [because my family weren't there]," Ruffo said at the time. "There was a one in 20 chance that I wouldn't survive it. I almost didn't have time to react to it, because I went in and then I fell into a coma and I woke up two or three days later and they said, 'We operated and you had a tumour.'"
