Travolta's son tragically passed away in January 2009 while on holiday with his family in the Bahamas. Jett, who was 16 at the time, had suffered a seizure and hit his head at their holiday home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island.

This is Jett's first birthday since Travolta's wife, Kelly Preston, died in July 2020 after a two-year battle with breast cancer. She was 57.

After Jett's death, Travolta and Preston confirmed that their son had autism and would regularly have seizures. Preston opened up in November 2012 about their son's autism while on an episode of The Doctors.

"[Jett] was autistic. He had seizures and when he was very young, he had Kawasaki Syndrome," she explained. "I strongly believe as a mother, as does my husband, that there are certain contributing factors that lead to autism and some of it is very much the chemicals in our environment and in our food."
