In an interview on Good Morning America, John Travolta gave an emotional tribute to the late James Gandolfini, who died suddenly of a heart attack in Italy on Wednesday, aged 51.

Grieving for the loss of his friend, the 59-year-old Pulp Fiction star recalled a heart-warming moment where the Sopranos star supported him after the loss of his son Jett.

"James went out of his way to come to Florida, and he would not leave Florida until I was OK, or he felt that I would be fine," John said. "[James was a] people person first and then everything else." Watch John's moving tale above.

The death of John's son Jett was a tragedy, with the 16-year-old suffering a seizure at his family's holiday home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel in January 2009.

"After a week I said, 'Jim you can really, you can, you know, we'll be fine. I've got a lot of support here,'" John recalled.

"But the idea that in our profession someone would go out of their way and not want to leave you until he felt you were okay, that's the kind of soul that James Gandolfini was."

Other stars such as Julianne Moore have given their condolences to James' family after the star's passing. Find out what they said in the videos below.
