Locals baffled as Jennifer Coolidge spotted in bizarre Sydney stunt

Sydneysiders were left baffled (and starstruck) when Hollywood icon Jennifer Coolidge made a surprise appearance in Bondi on Tuesday.

Coolidge, 64, stood out as she wandered along the promenade and through the streets of the beachside suburb, and not just because of her famous face.

The White Lotus star looked glamorous in a floral dress and heels, accessorised with headphones on and a shopping trolley in hand to promote an Audible collaboration.

While it appears random, the brand is running a “listening trolley” pop-up experience at Harris Farm Bondi from July 31 to August 3 to encourage people to enjoy audiobooks while they shop.

As part of the campaign, Coolidge appeared on Today where she shocked Sylvia Jeffreys with her outlandish answers.

“Tell us what has brought you back to Sydney,” Jeffreys began.

“Well, I’m pregnant with three little girls,” she replied without missing a beat.

“I wanted to get a little beach time before I give birth.”

While the hilarious response left Jeffreys unsure of where to go, Coolidge then sang Australia’s praises.

“I’m in love with Australia. I don’t know anyone who’s come to Australia and been like ‘yeah, I didn’t like it’. I like everything about it,” she said.

Then somehow, after a question about her favourite genre of audiobook, Coolidge found herself talking about her “undergarments”.

“What happens is if I put on undergarments that are too tight, I literally get to the point where I can’t remember my name or where I grew up,” she said.

“I’m just without oxygen. What’s happening here?”

Unsurprisingly, the chat left Jeffreys in hysterics.

Coolidge has spent decades in the spotlight with beloved roles in American Pie, Best in Show and Legally Blonde, but found career resurgence thanks to The White Lotus.

She received critical acclaim for her role as Tanya McQuoid, which saw her win the Emmy for outstanding supporting actress in a drama series.
