Aussie actor Hugh Sheridan has come out as non-binary.

In a moving post shared to their Instagram page, the 35-year-old singer and Packed to the Rafters alum said they are "still a human" and they "don't accept a label cause it limits [them]."

Sheridan first said they are attracted to both men and women in an essay for Stellar Magazine published in October last year, and currently, they are engaged to 29-year-old Aussie TikTok star Kurt Roberts.

Roberts is also the general manager of digital lending at Commonwealth Bank.

The duo have been dating since late 2020, and Sheridan proposed to Roberts at the Adelaide Fringe Festival on March 6 2021, a date that coincided with Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

"I don't accept a label cause it limits me… if you want it; take it," Sheridan continued.

"I chose zero labels for no other reason except the exclusion, limitations, separation, I believe are all one, deeeeep down. &…who knows? Why chose?!! Be you. Be true. Be free: to BE, to JUST BE… you, a human, same as me."

People who identify as non-binary do not consider themselves to be in either the man or woman gender categories, and often go by the pronouns they/them.

Sheridan's announcement accompanied the promotion of their feature in men's magazine DNA, where Sheridan graces the cover in an intimate embrace with their fiancé.

In the accompanying interview with DNA, Sheridan said that despite the fact that they don't want to be labelled, they are now comfortable with being "gay."

"Now I'm marrying a guy you can call me gay. Whatever! The point is, we're all human and, in my case, labelling put me into a box that felt like a cell," Sheridan said.
