Hayden Panettiere’s rep slams ‘unverified hearsay’ about her cause of death
A representative for Hayden Panettiere has hit back at rumours about her cause of death, calling recent claims “unverified hearsay”.
The rep confirmed the investigation into Panettiere’s sudden death aged 36 is ongoing, as police and the coroner work to determine the true cause and manner of the star’s death.

“As reported yesterday by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, Hayden’s death remains under investigation pending the completion of toxicology results, despite reports from some outlets stating otherwise,” the rep said in a statement to People.
“Recent reports attributed to unnamed sources are unverified hearsay and have attributed to conflicting information that continues to circulate.
“While we are all eager to find closure and better understand the circumstances surrounding her passing, we must remain patient and allow the investigative process to unfold.
“The answers we are all seeking will come.”

The statement comes just days after TMZ reported that unnamed sources claimed Panettiere died after taking an oxycodone pill laced with fentanyl.
Sources alleged the actress had a “long time drug dealer” in Los Angeles who supplied her with several “black market prescription drugs”, some of which she took with her from Los Angeles to South Carolina in August.
According to TMZ, Panettiere consumed the laced pill on the morning she died and the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) in Los Angeles was working to trace the fatal pill back to the alleged dealer.
The same day TMZ released its report, Greenville County Coroner’s Office told FOX Carolina, “We have not released anything at this time. We will send out an email release when ready.”

Panettiere’s sudden death rocked her family and fans.
The actress’ ex Brian Hickerson was handcuffed by police after a bar fight over the weekend and was caught on camera yelling about Panettiere’s death during the altercation.
Last month, her Panetteire’s estranged mother Lesley Vogel broke her silence in TV interview where she lashed out at “haters”.
“I would say to the haters out there: ‘You don’t have a right to tell me how I mourn the loss of my second child. That’s my domain’,” Vogel, 70, told Good Morning America.

Meanwhile, stars like Rose McGowan and Anna Paquin have spoken out about the pressures of being a child star and the role it may have played in Panetteire’s death.
“It’s not a coincidence that so many former, specifically pre-sexualized female, child ‘stars’ have profoundly sad lives and untimely ends,” Paquin said on social media.
“We were not as protected by the ‘systems’ that look great on paper, as we are supposed to be.”
