Gwyneth Paltrow cosies up to Chris Martin's girlfriend Dakota Johnson in friendly photo

Gwyneth Paltrow being friends with ex-husband Chris Martin is one thing, but being friendly with his girlfriend Dakota Johnson sounds like fifty shades of awkward to us. Well, not for them...

In a new photo posted by their mutual friend, journalist Derek Blasberg, the women could been seen cosying up to each other at his birthday dinner -- even seemingly cracking up at the caption Blasberg used to describe the pic.

"Consciously throupling," he wrote alongside happy snaps of the trio, referring of course to the "consciously uncoupling" term Paltrow and Martin used to describe their split in 2014.

Blasberg's dinner party became an even bigger family affair when Paltrow's new husband, Brad Falchuk, joined in the photo fun. While Martin was nowhere to be seen, the former Glee executive producer was snapped sitting between Paltrow and Johnson, as actor Neil Patrick Harris and his husband David Burtka sat on the other side of the table.

If Paltrow and Johnson seem comfortable in each other's company, it's because they've spent plenty of time together since the Fifty Shades of Grey actress started dating Martin in early 2018. The former couple's kids, Apple, 14, and Moses, 13, have also welcomed Johnson into their modern family, with the group spending Thanksgiving together last year.

"Gwyneth thinks she is lovely. She gets on very well with her and is happy for Chris," a source told E! News at the time. "[They] spent a good amount of time together and have a very nice friendship. The kids really like Dakota and enjoy spending time with her."
