Greta Thunberg’s sister’s provocative career is worlds away from her activist sibling

Greta Thunberg’s sister is making a name for herself in the music world, carving out a pop career that couldn’t be further from her sibling’s activist image.
At 20 years old, self-trained jazz singer, actor and dancer Beata MonaLisa (known as Bea) is proving she has no intention living in the shadows of her older sister, who is known internationally as a climate activist.

In a recent interview, Bea – who appears to have opted out of using her famous surname – spoke about her love for singing and her new album before she calmly turned down a question about her sister, 23.
“I’m not responsible for other people’s lives,” the Swedish performer told Interview Magazine when asked about Greta.
Bea also noted that her definition of success looks very different from the conventional norm.
“Maybe it’s a feeling. You can be worldwide famous and not feel accepted, or you can have a small fan base and feel very successful,” she said.
Bea went on to explain the work that went into her debut album, which she has been working on since the age of 13.
“I keep coming back and changing things. There are nine songs, seven are finished… the album’s about the freedom of identity and empowering women,” she said.
Bea went on to describe the album as “pro-queer and anti-macho.”
Although she hasn’t got anything to say about climate change, she is unapologetically opinionated.
“I have many straight male producers who tell me how to sing,” she told the outlet.

“They want to feel like they’ve taught me. A loud, young female is very provocative, especially to them because they want to have control.”
A quick scroll through her social media shows a world completely detached from her sister’s global activism.
Instead, Bea’s Instagram grid – which boasts around 20,000 followers – is a vibrant mix of live singing clips, pole dancing videos, and revealing fashion shoots.

Her creative background also includes burlesque, with the artist previously sharing glimpses of her cabaret routines where she took to the stage in bold performance lingerie.
The sisters do not follow each other on the app, and it is unclear whether they have a close relationship or not.
