Grant Denyer involved in Bathurst 6 Hour crash, taken to hospital

TV and radio personality Grant Denyer has been hospitalised after a crash during the Bathurst 6 Hour following a late-race incident.

Speedcafe reports the presenter and racing driver was involved in a collision with Richard Barram at Griffins Bend in the fourth hour of the endurance event on Sunday.

At the time, the track was under double-waved yellow flags due to a stranded Class E Mazda sitting on the outside of the corner.

As Denyer, driving a Camaro, attempted to pass Barram's Volkswagen Scirocco, the situation quickly escalated. 

Barram made contact with the stationary car before hitting the wall, with Denyer also caught up in the incident.

Early reports indicated all drivers were in a stable condition, but a later update confirmed both Denyer and Barram were transported to hospital as a precaution, per Speedcafe.

Per reports, Barram was taken to Orange Hospital for observation and a possible ankle injury, while Denyer was transported to Bathurst Hospital with a suspected shoulder injury.

nine.com.au has contacted representatives for Denyer for further comment.

It's not the first time the 48-year-old has faced danger behind the wheel.

With more than 500 races under his belt, Denyer suffered a serious setback in 2008 when a 7.5-tonne monster truck accident left him with a broken back and months of recovery.

Nearly a decade later, in 2017, it was reported Denyer was airlifted to hospital after his rally car crashed into a tree during the Lake Mountain Sprint in Victoria, causing bruising to his lower back.
