Grant Denyer breaks silence following 2Day FM sacking: 'I tried my hardest'

Grant Denyer has spoken out following the axing of his 2Day FM breakfast show.

The radio host took to Instagram hours after the shock announcement this morning to thank his co-hosts, Ed Kavalee and Ash London, for the memories — the good, the gags and the funny.

"Well that was bloody fun!" Denyer wrote. "I have really enjoyed it. Tried my hardest, did my best and over-shared more than I should have. Thanks 2Day FM, thanks to the incredible humans on our team and thanks to my wife Chezzi for allowing me to tell stories about her, like when her boob came out on the rollercoaster. Least I won't have to come home to 'that look' anymore.

"Thanks mostly to Ed & Ash for the many laughs and countless OMG moments," he concluded. "Hell of a blast. I've learnt a lot!"

This morning, Hit Network boss Gemma Fordham announced that the Grant, Ed & Ash breakfast show would ceased to exist after Friday morning, with the time slot to be filled with just music. However, all three hosts will remain within the network.

Despite the show's axing, Denyer has remained in high spirits, even posting a video of himself dancing in the studio, with the caption, "'Bye bye bye' - NSYNC."

Meanwhile, the news of the cancellation appears to have made the day of radio rival Kyle Sandilands, with the Kyle & Jackie O Show host tweeting, "Hahahahahaha" followed by, "Another one bites the dust #seeya."
