White people are at their scariest in new racial-themed horror flick Get Out – watch the trailer!

From the brilliant mind of Jordan Peele (aka Peele, of comedy duo Key and Peele) comes what promises to be one of the most original horror movies in a long, long time.

The new trailer for Get Out starts out innocently enough. Chris (played by Daniel Kaluuya) and his girlfriend Rose (Allison Williams, Girls) are head over heels in love and venturing back to her hometown to meet her very suburban, very white parents.

"Do they know I'm black?" Walter asks. "You might want to tell them…"

But after a few kisses and jokes, it soon becomes clear that this is not about to be a Guess Who's Coming to Dinner tale of two families overcoming latent racism to celebrate the young lovers in colour-blind fashion.

Peele has said he wanted to make a movie that portrays "the fears of being a black man today", and the trailer quickly spirals into an all-out dystopian nightmare.

Once in suburbia, we find out that Rose's parents (Bradley Whitford and Catherine Keener - the whitest of white pair) are hypnotists, who only employee black, zombie-like caretakers around the house.

And when Chris realises that a lot of black people have gone missing around those parts recently, he starts to connect the dots, and a bloody, terrifying fight to escape ensues.

"Like comedy, horror has an ability to provoke thought and further the conversation on real social issues in a very powerful way," Peele told Variety.

"Get Out takes on the task of exploring race in America, something that hasn't really been done within the genre since Night of the Living Dead 47 years ago. It's long overdue."

Get Out is in Australian cinemas in early 2017.
