Gene Simmons' message to fans after 'fender bender' lands him in hospital: 'It happens'

KISS rocker Gene Simmons has reassured fans he's OK after he was hospitalised following a car crashearlier this week.

The musician, 76, fainted while driving and crashed into a parked car in Malibu, California, according to local news outlets.

He was reportedly responsive and talking when police arrived, but he was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Hours later, he told fans he was alright in a post to X, joking he's a "horrible driver."

"Thanks, everybody, for the kind wishes. I'm completely fine," the post reads.

"I had a slight fender bender. It happens. Especially to those of us (who are) horrible drivers. And that's me. All is well."

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department local news outlet NBC4 LA crashed into a parked car just before 1pm.

Simmons' SUV was sent veering across several lanes before slamming into the parked car, according to reports.

Local media also reported the musician's wife, Sharon Tweed, said he is now recovering at home.

Tweed said Simmons' medication had changed recently and he needs to drink more water, which he apparently isn't a fan of.

The bassist has previously opened up about his heart condition, atrial fibrillation (AFib).

According to The Heart Foundation, "Atrial fibrillation (AF or Afib) is a type of arrhythmia in which your heart beats irregularly and often fast. This reduces your heart's ability to pump blood properly and increases the chance of a blood clot forming in your heart and travelling up to your brain, where it can cause a stroke."

Simmons was one of the original members of the legendary rock band KISS, alongside Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss.

KISS wrapped up their farewell tour in December 2023, offically retiring from touring.

Simmons formed a new band called the Gene Simmons Band with Brent Woods, Zach Throne and Brian Tichy following KISS's retirement.

However, the band is expected to make a one-off appearance and performance in Vegas as part of an event in November.
