Frankie Muniz reveals the toll his career as a child actor took on his family: 'It might sound awful'

Frankie Muniz has gotten candid about the sacrifices his family had to make for him.

Muniz shot to fame after he scored the leading role on hit TV show Malcolm in the Middle at just 13.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Life Uncut podcast, he told hosts Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne he never realised just how much his family gave up until recently.

"My mum, she quit her job and she took me all over the world when she needed to, and left her life and my sister and everything to make sure I was where I needed to be," he said.

"My grandparents ended up raising my sister because of it. So the sacrifice they made, my cousins, my aunts, my uncle.

"Everybody sacrificed everything to make my dream and my life happen."

While it worked out for Muniz, with the actor going on to star on the show for seven seasons as well as having a successful acting career after that, he admitted it wasn't as great for his family.

"It might sound awful, like, I actually don't think any good came from my family," he told Byrne and Hockley.

"There was massive sacrifices on behalf of my family."

Muniz explained his parents ended up getting a divorce, having basically lived separate lives ever since his mum took him to pursue acting when he was around 12.

"My mum's had, maybe she doesn't want me to talk about this, but she's had financial issues because she was my manager," he continued.

"So she made a lot of money from me, didn't know how to manage it. And it put her in a really bad position.

"So even though there was positive, it became negative kind of for everybody, as weird as that sounds."
