Neil Patrick Harris may have just given us one of the best Oscar openings ever

Well, that didn't take long.
If anyone had doubts that former Tony and Emmy Awards host Neil Patrick Harris could pull off his brand new Oscars emcee gig, the actor quickly put them to rest.
His opening bit was funny, entertaining and, most importantly, brief. It was all over in under 10 minutes.

We'll give him bonus points for reminding us of the time Sharon Stone went commando (yep, in Basic Instinct) and for having the guts to allude to Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's sizzling, erm, chemistry in Good Will Hunting.
Who knows? Maybe the show will clock in at less than six hours for once.
