We've all feared getting an earring stuck, but this is much worse.

Radio star Fifi Box, 49, revealed her face "started to feel paralysed" after a freak accident involving her earring left her in excruciating pain.

"I thought I was heading to the emergency ward at the hospital because I was in so much trouble," she told listeners this week on Hit Network's Fifi, Fev and Nick show.

Fifi explained she was chewing gum on Wednesday when the right side of her face was "throbbing".

"It was the most acute pain in my jaw and my ear but I was panicking going, what was happening to my face?"

She was in so much pain but couldn't understand why. Then it hit her.

She remembered the day before, she knocked her head on co-host Fev's shoulder.

"I screamed, do you remember I screamed at first?" she recalled. "I thought my ear was bleeding."

She remembered that her earring with a post, the small rod that passes through the ear, had "punctured" her neck as they collided.

"I was thinking to myself, I've jabbed like a nerve or something," she realised.

"If there's any acupuncturist listening, they might know what happened. But it was like I'd given myself nerve damage to the point where I couldn't eat yesterday."

The mum-of-two then asked AI to help diagnose her medical "emergency" while on-air, which suggests she's doing just fine.
