Seinfeld actress Estelle Harris dies aged 93

Estelle Harris, the actress known for playing George Costanza's mother in Seinfeld and voicing Mrs Potato Head, has died age 93.

Harris' son Glenn confirmed the news after she died at her home in Palm Desert, California on Saturday.

"It is with the greatest remorse and sadness to announce that Estelle Harris has passed on this evening at 6:25pm," Glenn told Deadline.

"Her kindness, passion, sensitivity, humour, empathy and love were practically unrivalled, and she will be terribly missed by all those who knew her."

It is believed Harris died due to natural causes just days before her 94th birthday.

Harris was famed for her role as Estelle Costanza in the hit 1990s sitcom Seinfeld, as well as the voice behind the iconic Mrs Potato Head character in the Toy Story franchise.

She reprised the role in Toy Story 4, her most recent acting credit.

The actress also had television other credits to her name, including appearances in Mad About You and Married With Children.

Harris is survived by her three children — Eric, Glen, and Taryn — her three grandsons, and a great-grandson.
