Chris Hemsworth has officially completed the first year of his 40s, with his wife Elsa Pataky taking to Instagram to celebrate with a hilarious and heartwarming tribute.

Pataky, 48, shared a number of pictures of the Thor actor throughout the years, including one of him lounging across a horse, one of the pair covered in snow, one of him in head-to-toe Christmas gear, and another mid-high-kick in the snowy mountains.

She also shared snaps of him playing with their children, India Rose, 12, and twin sons Sasha and Tristan, 10, when they were younger.

The actor will soon be returning to the screens – though we won't be seeing much of him.

Hemsworth will be voicing the role of Optimus Prime in the upcoming Transformers One animated film.

"I've loved every second of the Marvel experience and I'm always down to do more, " he added, "We're all sort of waiting to hear what's happening."

While his response doesn't shed much light on his future involvement with the franchise, it leaves room for hope that he may one day make a return as the beloved Asgardian.
