Elon Musk and singer Grimes name newborn son 'X Æ A-12'

Elon Musk has taken celebrity baby names next level with a near-impossible to pronounce name for his newborn son.

Responding to fans asking about a baby name, the proud dad, 48, announced the son he shares with singer Grimes is named 'X Æ A-12 Musk'.

It's not known if Musk was having fun with his followers or if the newborn's name has been inspired by one Grimes' electro pop songs '4ÆM' from her last album Miss Anthropocene.

Sharing the news of the bub's arrival on Twitter on Tuesday, the businessman wrote: "Mom & baby all good".

The Tesla CEO shared an image holding his son, who was swaddled in a multi-colour blanket, after one fan said: "A pic of you holding the baby would break the internet ... please share one".

Musk also shared a solo of the baby with a tattoo face filter over the top.

This is Musk's sixth child and the singer's first.

Musk and Grimes began dating in 2018 with the Canadian-born singer announcing her pregnancy on social media in January.

"I'm sorry I haven't been promoting my album properly or on social media more," she told fans.

"This whole thing has been a bit of an ordeal," the singer added, revealing she had some "complications early on".

During a YouTube live stream in February, which has since been made private, Grimes was asked if she was hoping for a boy or girl.

"I don't want to gender them in case that's not how they feel in their life," she said. "I don't know, I just feel like it doesn't need to be known... They may decide their fate and identity."
