Fans are just realising that Elizabeth Olsen is related to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

Fans are only just discovering that Elizabeth Olsen is related to child stars and fashion designer's Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen.

Elizabeth, 32, has recently become more famous for her portrayal of Wanda Maximoff in the hit TV show WandaVision. But it's the realisation that she's the Olsen twins' younger sister that has set the internet alight.

Many will already be aware of the family connection, but for some Twitter users, they are only just having this revelation.

"I was today years old when I realized that Elizabeth Olsen from the Avengers is related to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen," one person tweeted.

Another commented, "First you're telling me that Elizabeth Olsen is related to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, next you're gonna tell me that Obama has a last name."

A third wrote, "SO YOURE TELLING ME THAT ELIZABETH OLSEN IS RELATED TO MARY KATE AND ASHLEY OLSEN??!! THE STRONGEST AVENGER AND MICHELLE?? PLZZZ."

While another tweeted, "I'm sorry why did no one tell me that Elizabeth Olsen aka Wanda Maximoff herself is the younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley! I feel like this should be more widely known!"

Similarly to Mary-Kate and Ashley, Elizabeth started her acting career at a young age. Her big break was when she was cast in the thriller drama Martha Marcy May Marlene in 2011.

She recently acknowledged the "nepotism" that went into her becoming a success.

"Nepotism is a thing and I'm very aware of it," she told Grazia. "And of course, I've always wanted to do it alone."

In April 2018, Elizabeth revealed the biggest lessons she's learned from her mega-famous twin sisters.

"There are always ways you can be private — my sisters are intimately private and I respect that," she said. "They showed me that you can be private, but also accessible to journalists, for those reasons," she told Harper's Bazaar. "It's helpful that I learnt my value system from them."
