Elizabeth Chambers is 'focussing on healing' as Armie Hammer faces sexual assault investigation

Elizabeth Chambers has updated fans as she copes with her estranged husband Armie Hammer's sexual assault investigation.

Chambers, who filed for divorce from Hammer last year, was asked why she's been "quiet" on her social media platforms.

"Focusing on healing, my babes and work," Chambers wrote during an "Ask Me Anything" Q&A on her Instagram Story. "A lot I've wanted to share but hasn't felt right ATM."

On March 19, Hammer was being investigated by the LAPD in light of claims of a violent encounter with a woman named Effie.

She recalled an alleged sexual assault by Hammer at a Zoom press conference alongside her attorney, Gloria Allred.

"On April 24, 2017, Armie Hammer violently raped me for over four hours in Los Angeles, during which he repeatedly slapped my head against a wall bruising my face," Effie said.

"He also committed other acts of violence against me to which I did not consent."

Hammer's lawyer Andrew Brettler denied the accusation, stating "Mr Hammer has maintained that all of his interactions with [Effie] — and every other sexual partner of his for that matter — have been completely consensual, discussed and agreed upon in advance, and mutually participatory."

Chambers has been residing in the Cayman Islands, with her and Hammer's two children, Ford and Harper.

It's not the first time the journalist has commented on the scandal. She previously addressed the allegations against Hammer, voicing her support for victims of assault and abuse.

"For weeks, I've been trying to process everything that has transpired. I am shocked, heartbroken, and devastated. Heartbreak aside, I am listening, and will continue to listen and educate myself on these delicate matters. I didn't realize how much I didn't know," Chambers wrote.

"I support any victim of assault or abuse and urge anyone who has experienced this pain to seek the help she or he needs to heal. At this time, I will not be commenting further on this matter."
