Ed Sheeran reveals intimate details of secret wedding to childhood sweetheart Cherry Seaborn

Ed Sheeran has shared some intimate details of his wedding to Cherry Seaborn.

The singer married his childhood sweetheart in a hush-hush ceremony back in 2019 — and this is the first time Sheeran has opened up about the secret nuptials.

Speaking on Jessie Ware's Table Manners podcast, the 30-year-old said it was such a relaxed affair they feasted on curry afterwards. 

"Me and Cherry's actual wedding was a tiny affair, with hardly anyone there," Sheeran recalled on the August 11 episode. "We did it at night, at a random day in the middle of January, in the middle of nowhere. No one knew, no one came to it, we lit candles and we got married, went back and had a curry."

None of the couple's loved ones were in attendance, but months after the January 2019 ceremony, they held a belated party for their family and famous friends. Stella McCartney, who designed Seaborn's party dress, was among the celebrities in attendance.

But before festivities could take place, there was one stipulation for guests: all mobile phones were banned from the event. 

"The wedding party was more a celebration of us and our friends. I didn't want pictures getting out and I'm surprised they didn't," he explained on the podcast. "Everyone was very present. My friend Josh wore a triple denim suit and Stella McCartney had gone up to him and said she liked his suit, and he was quite pissed. She said, 'I'm Stella,' and he said, 'What, like Stella f---ing McCartney?' And she was like, 'Well, yeah,'"

Sheeran and Seaborn were engaged in January 2018. The pair knew each other since they were children, but they didn't start dating until 2015. They are now parents to daughter Lyra Antarctica, who they welcomed late last year.
