Mary-Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy split after five years of marriage

Mary-Kate Olsen is reportedly divorcing her husband of five years, Pierre Olivier Sarkozy.

According to reports, the child star turned fashion designer signed a petition for divorce on April 17, but New York City courts are not currently accepting divorce filings due to the global coronavirus crisis. Olsen is seeking an emergency order to speed up the process — allowing her to file the legal paperwork to end her marriage.

Olsen, 33, and Sarkozy, 50, married in November 2015. According to TMZ, Sarkozy contacted the Full House alum's lawyers and gave them a deadline for her to move out of their NYC apartment. Olsen claims that Sarkozy is forcing her out by May 18 because he terminated their lease without her knowledge.

Olsen says she requested Sarkozy to give her until May 30 to find a new home, but claims he hasn't responded.

In documents obtained by TMZ, the former child star says she is unable to meet the deadline due to quarantine guidelines and restrictions in New York City — and the only way she can protect her property is if she files a divorce petition. This will trigger an automatic court order, preventing him from disposing of her property.

Olsen is also requesting for their prenuptial agreement to be enforced.

Olsen and Sarkozy do not have any children together, but Sarkozy has two teenage children from his former marriage with ex-wife Charlotte Bernard.

The pair have yet to publicly comment on their split.

Olsen's twin sister, Ashley Olsen, has been romantically linked to artist Louis Eisner since 2017. While the couple sparked engagement rumours in July 2019, they never publicly confirmed their romance.
