Celebrities are livestreaming concerts from their homes to keep spirits high during coronavirus lockdowns

Concerts and music festivals may be cancelled, but that doesn't mean the show can't go on.

A host of celebrities have taken to social media to perform gigs, which fans can easily livestream on their devices as they continue to self-isolate at home amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Keith Urban and his band set up cameras to film them as they performed behind closed doors on March 17. The country music star was scheduled to play at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on March 16, but the event was cancelled due to coronavirus fears. Instead, he happily played in the comfort of his home  to an audience of one: wife Nicole Kidman. 

"Just loved getting to sing and dance with you all," she wrote on Instagram as she supported Urban. "You can watch Keith's home gig over on his page all day at @KeithUrban xx."

Pink is another superstar who livestreamed herself rehearsing on the piano, playing Bob Dylan's classic 'Make You Feel My Love'. 

"Free concert slash piano lessons from my heart to yours," wrote Pink, who said she was still learning how to play the piano.

And now it appears Australian-grown organisation Global Citizen and the World Health Organization have done one better and launched a virtual concert series to promote unity amid the new social distancing protocols.

Dubbed the Solidarity Sessions: Together, At Home, the concerts will feature live performances from various artists which can all be livestreamed via Instagram. Kicking off the concerts is none other than Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

"I'm supposed to be with my band Coldplay today, from which I come. But we're stuck in different countries, so we can't pay together," he told fans in the clip. "So I thought what would be nice is to check in with some of you out other there to see how you're doing, where you are and what I could do for you. I had an idea that we could call this thing 'Together, At Home' and, who knows, maybe tomorrow someone else will take it over?"

John Legend heard loud and clear and has pledged to follow through with Martin's request. 

"My friend Chris Martin did a lovely little concert from home today. I'll be doing one tomorrow at 1pm Pacific time," Legend tweeted on March 17. "See you soon. We'll try to get through this together! #TogetherAtHome," 

The campaign hopes to raise awareness and funding of the Solidarity Response Fund, an initiative announced overnight by the United Nations Foundation, the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation and WHO — public fundraising campaign and fund to help fight the COVID-19 coronavirus. 

A string of international celebrities have already come on board including Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Billie Eilish.
