Christina Applegate shares update in first video since months-long hospitalisation

Christina Applegate has shared her first video since her months-long hospitalisation this year, amid her ongoing battle with multiple sclerosis.

The Emmy-winning actress, 54, took to Instagram on Tuesday to send “love” to her fans while showing off her glowing new look since her reported discharge in August.

“Fresh hair color, new weird spot on my cheek haha thank you @davestanwell for brightening up my cloudy day,” wrote Applegate with a nod to her hair stylist.

The Married... with Children star also thanked those who have been supporting her: “Love you and love to you all out there”.

Fellow A-listers and friends returned the love in the comments section with Ride or Die star Octavia Spencer and comedian Chelsea Handler posting fire and love heart emojis.

Applegate, who was admitted in March, was believed to have spent nearly four months in hospital before her discharge in early August.

In early September, the Vacation star shared a photo of her ‘welcome home’ banner made by daughter Sadie.

“Meant to post this a while ago. My kid is so my kid hahah,” wrote the mum-of-one at the time.

The actress broke her silence on her hospitalisation in April 2026 in a social media update.

“Thank you for the outpouring of love and well wishes,” she posted on Instagram at the time.

“Health issues are a constant for me, but I’m a strong chick and I’m getting stronger and better every day. I’m taking a moment to focus on my health, but I’ll be back with more to say soon enough.”

The actress, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021, was hospitalised in Los Angeles in March. 

It was not clear at the time if the reason for her hospitalisation had anything to do with MS.

Since going public with her diagnosis, Applegate has been open about her health struggles.

Earlier this year she gave a heart-breaking update, and revealed that she was confined to her bed due to ongoing pain, while talking about how she still tries to take her daughter Sadie, 15, to school.

"I want to take her; it's my favourite thing to do. It's the only time we have together by ourselves," she told People in February.

"I tell myself, 'Just get her there safely and get home so you can get back into bed.' And that's what I do."

Applegate put it bluntly that her life "isn't wrapped up in a bow".

"People's lives, sorry for lack of a better term, f---ing suck sometimes. So I'm being as honest and raw as I possibly can," she added.
