Why haters are trolling this wedding photo of Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger

Newlywed Chris Pratt has been criticised for gushing about his new life with new wife Katherine Schwarzenegger.

Angry fans called out the actor after he described their California ranch wedding on Saturday as the "best day of our lives."

"Yesterday was the best day of our lives!" the 39-year-old actor captioned a wedding photo on social media. "We became husband and wife in front of God, our families and those we love. It was intimate, moving and emotional. We feel so blessed to begin this new chapter of our lives."

While Pratt understandably wanted to gush about the happy occasion, fans thought his caption was disrespectful to first wife Anna Faris and their six-year-old son, Jack. The couple split in 2017 after eight years of marriage and only just finalised their divorce last October.

"Anna must feel so happy that this was ur best day of ur life!" one critic tweeted, while another wondered, "Really? Your son's birth wasn't the best day of your life? Sheesh"

The sentiments were similar over on Instagram, with a few expressing their disbelief over Pratt's choice of words.

"I feel bad when people say they had the happiest day of their lives… it's like you're crapping on the day your son was born, or the day you married your previous spouse!" wrote an upset follower. "Just say you had a wonderful, happy day!"

Another wrote, "Not even divorced a year… what."

However, other fans were quick to defend the newlyweds, who got engaged in January after seven months of dating.

"For Those being Critical over written words.... did you think to look at it as 'The Best Day of Our Lives' TOGETHER AS A COUPLE, Thus far," one follower pointed out.

"He said the best day of OUR lives, OUR as in their new lives. She wasn't apart of his first wedding or the birth of his son," another fan commented. "So everyone stop the hate and be happy for them because love and marriage is a beautiful thing. And no one deserves to be hated on their wedding day."
