Filming Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga was about as romantic as life gets, according to Chris Hemsworth.

Hemsworth stars in the movie alongside Anya Taylor-Joy, but his wife Elsa Pataky also played two small roles in the film.

While some couples may get sick of one another living and working together, Hemsworth told E! News that that couldn't be further from the truth for he and Pataky.

"It's kinda like date night for us because we have three kids," he told the outlet during Cannes Film Festival. "Going to work together is when we get some alone time."

Hemsworth and Pataky share three children together, India, 12, and twins Sasha and Tristan, 10.

And while the Thor actor described it as "cool" that he and Pataky "spent a lot of time" together on set, there was one downfall of it all.

He shared that his kids were also on set a lot, and while it's nice to be surrounded by family, the experience took away the magic of movies for the three youngsters.

"They've seen behind the curtain and understand the tricks," he explained. "Nothing is pretty shocking to them."

Hemsworth recently told 9News that not only was it "refreshing" to have the opportunity to play a villain when he is so well known as Marvel superhero Thor, but it was also a great experience to be able to join such an iconic franchise.

The film is the latest installment in the iconic Mad Max series, a franchise known for making use of Australia's landscapes to enhance the story.

The 1979 original was filmed in various locations across New South Wales, with Broken Hill transformed into the iconic Wasteland.

"These beautiful red dirt landscapes, all very nostalgic," Hemsworth said. "Just similar locations, or the same locations, the first film was shot 45 years ago."
