Celebrities who've talked about hating their most famous roles
Celebrities take on their roles with the best intentions, but sometimes they realise too far in that they despise their characters.
Continue to see which actors hated their most iconic roles.
Berry leant into it, even bringing her Academy Award trophy (in her left hand) along with her as she accepted her Razzie Award (in her right hand), joking that she didn't have to give back her Oscar because it has her name on it.
She opened her speech by saying, "I want to thank Warner Bros. for casting me in this piece-of-shit, God-awful movie."
"You know it was just what my career needed... I was at the top and then Catwoman just plummeted me to the bottom," she said.
"Love it – it's hard being on top, it's much better being on the bottom."
Kate Winslet in Titanic
Kate Winslet landed the role of a lifetime at age 21 with Rose from Titanic, but it's not one she looks back on with fond eyes.
"Every single scene, I'm like 'Really, really? You did it like that?'" she told The Telegraph in 2012, "Oh my God ... Even my American accent, I can't listen to it. It's awful."
"Hopefully it's so much better now," she said.
"It sounds terribly self-indulgent, but actors do tend to be very self-critical. I have a hard time watching any of my performances, but watching Titanic I was just like, 'Oh God, I want to do that again'."
"I really enjoyed my performance in the fifth – part of it was how much I worked with people like Gary Oldman and David Thewlis. On the sixth, I remember watching it and thinking, 'Wow, there's been no growth'."
"You're watching a mistake you made every day for 11 months – that's the way I saw it," he said.
"I had the idea that Harry was like a soldier traumatised by war, and as a result of that, he shuts down emotionally. That's not a bad idea, but it's not the most interesting thing to watch for two-and-a-half hours."
Dev Patel in The Last Airbender
After the high of his role in Slumdog Millionaure, Dev Patel made his foray into big budget films, but his first project happened to flop.
In The Last Airbender the actor played Prince Zuko, and though he was lauded for his performance, the film is considered a massive failure.
During The Hollywood Reporter Actor Roundtable in 2016, he shared that he "saw a stranger on the screen that I couldn't relate to."
"I don't know what I would like to play, but I know what I'm afraid of playing: those big studio movies. After Slumdog, I did a film that was not well received at all. The budget of Slumdog was like the budget of the craft services of this movie. And I completely felt overwhelmed by the experience.
"I felt like I wasn't being heard. That was really scary for me, and that's really when I learned the power of no, the idea of saying no. Listen to that instinct you get when you read those words for the first time."
Robert Pattinson in the Twilight Saga
While the entire world was falling in love with Edward Cullen, one person began to hate him – actor Robert Pattinson.
Over the years he has been vocal about his distaste about everything to do with the role.
He came under fire in the early days of the series for telling OK!, "You always get weirdos like Edward who seem to attract women for some reason.
"If Edward wasn't a fictional character and you met him in reality he is like one of those guys who would probably be an axe murderer or something."
The popularity of the role also caused hindrance to his life, with the star once telling NME that he "had people sitting outside my house every single day, and it drove me crazy."
"I didn't go into a supermarket for about six years. But now I can go in and chat to the guy who's working there about his kids, or where he's going on holiday, and not be thinking, 'Is he gonna sell me out?' I just don't have to think about that stuff anymore."
