Interacting with a celebrity isn't always easy, though nothing is as awkward as having an A-lister walk out.

Whether mid-interview or during a live talk show – or Saturday Night Live (hi, Morgan Wallen) – nothing could be worse than a star throwing up their hands and leaving.

However, when the going gets tough, sometimes there is no other option than to walk away.

Keep scrolling to see some of the most memorable walk-outs over the years.

Lily Tomlin

On a 1972 episode of The Dick Cavett Show, Lily Tomlin walked out after her fellow guest, Medical Center actor Chad Everett, made a sexist joke about his own wife.

Everett told the host he had "three horses and three dogs. And a wife," prompting Cavett to ask, "You wanna think about the billing order there?"

"No, no, she's the most beautiful animal I own," Everett replied.

Tomlin was fuming.

Addressing her fellow guest, she said, "You own? I have to leave," before promptly exiting the stage.

Morgan Wallen

Morgan Wallen broke a cast and crew tradition during his appearance on Saturday Night Live

The 31-year-old singer was the musical guest on the March 30, 2025 episode, hosted by Anora star Mikey Madison.

At the end of each episode, there is an unspoken rule that the SNL cast gathers while the host makes their closing remarks and the credits roll (as pictured).

Wallen didn't appear too interested in waiting around, instead opting to whisper something in Madison's ear and exit the stage.

The reason for his premature departure is still unknown, though fans of the show quickly picked up on the strange decision.

"Wow, Morgan Wallen just walking off the stage during the @nbcsnl credits? In decades of watching SNL, I don't think I've ever seen that," one user wrote on X.

"For so many of us, that is sacred ground. What an a------."

Naomi Campbell

Naomi Campbell might be the leading star of celebrity walkouts, leaving countless interviews throughout her career.

Perhaps her most sensational exit was in 2010 during a sit-down discussion with the ABC.

The supermodel was asked about a "blood diamond" she was rumoured to have received from former Liberian dictator Charles Taylor.

Campbell has continued to deny this suggestion.

"I didn't receive a diamond, and I'm not going to speak about that," Campbell said.

When the journalist persisted with the question, Campbell unceremoniously stormed out and accidentally knocked over a camera on her way.

Governor Chris Christie

Despite Governor Chris Christie agreeing to appear on a comedian's talk show, he didn't take well to a joke made by its host.

During a 2015 appearance on The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon interrupted his guest's story to make what appeared to be a subtle comment on Christie's weight.

"He's like 'OK, let's go for ice cream!' and I'm like, 'Alright,' so we get off the boat, and he turns to me-" Christie began before being cut off.

Fallon said, "First of all, you weren't like 'Alright,' you were like, 'Yahhooo,'" which was just about enough for Christie.

The governor then stood up, walked away and told the crowd, "Good night, everybody."

Bee Gees

The Bee Gees collectively left in the middle of an interview during a 1997 appearance on Clive Anderson All Talk

During their conversation, Anderson repeatedly made jabs about the band's music, though one joke seemed to go too far.

Barry Gibb was talking about their song Don't Forget to Remember when Anderson piped up to say, "I'd forgotten that one."

An increasingly frustrated Gibbs shot back, "We're getting on like a storm, aren't we, Clive? In fact, I might just leave."

As The Bee Gees stood to walk away, Clive confessed, "I've never had anyone walk out before," to which Gibbs replied, "You're the tosser, pal."

Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton didn't react well to ABC news reporter Dan Harris's question about whether she felt her career had been overtaken by other stars.

"Do you worry at times that the people who have followed in your footsteps, like Kim Kardashian, have overshadowed you?" he queried in the 2011 interview.

"No, not at all," she replied.

Harris continued to probe about the poor ratings that followed her show, The World According to Paris, and asked whether she felt "her moment had passed."

Just like that, Hilton was ready to head out, the star telling her publicist, "I don't want this being used".

Hilton was persuaded to return, where she maturely replied, "I've been doing this for 15 years now, so it's been a long time.

"So just like any other business person or someone in the industry, it's always important to reinvent yourself and come up with new projects."

Kanye West

Kanye West

Kanye West and Piers Morgan make a strong case for why large personalities should avoid spending too much time together.

During a 2022 interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored, West feared he actually was being censored, prompting him to call the host a "Karen".

Now, suppose you've been living under a rock.

In that case, you might not know "Karen" indicates a person is entitled, drawing similarities to a middle-aged white woman with an asymmetrical bob asking to speak to the manager.

Morgan wasn't a fan of the comparison, replying, "I'm not a Karen and I'm not going to cancel you and I'm not going to censor you, I'm simply going to challenge you on what you're saying."

West was already on his way out, walking out of frame. Still, his team persuaded him to return and finish speaking with Morgan.

The jury is still out on who the biggest Karen there was.
