Catherine O'Hara's brother shares details of actress' final days and says she visited him in a dream to say 'goodbye'

Catherine O'Hara's brother Michael Patrick O'Hara has touched on his sister's death, after she died in January at the age of 71.

Speaking on his Tip O the Iceberg podcast, Michael said he had a dream about her in the days before her death, saying she visited him in the dream to say "goodbye".

He also revealed that before her death, the Schitt's Creek star "wasn't talking much in the end".

"Recently I had a death in the family ... very unexpected and very, very sad," he began.

"I always cherish the times I can meet with a loved one in the dream state. And actually, oddly enough, I had a dream days, or a few days before she died, my sister.

"And I was hugging her, which was really beautiful. And I guess it was sort of a goodbye."

"She wasn't talking much in the end. She didn't really want to talk on the phone ... and she didn't live close by, she's in Los Angeles."

He added that he's since had another dream about her after her death, where she was in a new house and happy and furnishing it.

"She said, 'You can you can sleep here anytime, Michael. You can come over and stay anytime,'" he said.

"The other world that she's now in, its beautiful."

Catherine, who was married to Bo Welch, died on January 30.

She was known for roles including Home Alone, Beetlejuice and Schitt's Creek.

The Home Alone star's agent confirmed she had died "following a brief illness".

It was soon revealed the late star died from a pulmonary embolism (a blood clot in the lung) and had been diagnosed with rectal cancer, according to her death certificate obtained by US publications including People and TMZ.
