Carrie Bickmore grieves the death of two grandparents in one week

Carrie Bickmore's celebrity friends have sent their thoughts and sympathy to the star after she lost two grandparents in a matter of days.

The Project host made the heartbreaking announcement on Instagram yesterday while standing by a white casket with flowers arranged by her sister, Claudia Jenkins.

"Farewelling second grandparent in a week. My poppa was 90 and my nana on the other side was 97. Incredible innings," Bickmore wrote. "Feeling emotional but also so grateful to have had all my grandparents into my 30's. They have taught us so much and loved us unconditionally. Here's to grandparents everywhere."

Bickmore had a special bond with her grandparents. In the past, she's referred to her grandma as a "legend" and she always took the time to visit her granddad when back home in Adelaide.

"The catch ups are never as frequent as I'd like but always put a smile on my face. Love you poppa. Your selfie game is strong," she captioned a sweet snap with her grandfather in 2016.

Famous friends such as Grant Denyer's wife Chezzi Denyer and Halifax f.p. star Rebecca Gibney have all expressed their condolences to Bickmore, who in 2010 lost her husband Greg Lange to brain cancer.

"It's so sad and emotional saying goodbye to loved ones, especially when they've been important to us for all our lives. Sending love and telepathic hugs," Denyer commented on Bickmore's post, while Gibney wrote, "Sending love honey."

Comedian Julia Morris was also thinking of the star, commenting, "So so sorry to hear that Carrie. Sending my deepest sympathy to you & the family," as did Radio personality Ash London, who wrote, "Sending love to you darling one. How lucky indeed to have them around!!! What a blessing."
