The bizarre Cannes Film Festival red carpet cameo we all missed
Stars in glamorous gowns often peacock on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet, but one attendee over the weekend literally came as a bird.
Ahead of the the premiere of Lynne Ramsay's Die, My Love, with Robert Pattinson and Jennifer Lawrence, a man came fully dressed as bird, complete with a beak and feathers.
The costume had a purpose. It was a tie-in with the documentary I Love Peru, which is playing in the Cannes Classics section.

The costume was specifically a condor, which in Peru has been seen as a creature connecting heaven and earth.
The Cannes Film Festival recently banned nudity and "excessively voluminous" gowns. But it has no policy against condors.
While you'd think a man in a bird costume would easily win the title of 'most headline-grabbing animal cameo at Cannes', there was another that overshadowed it.

On Friday, the red carpet was thrown into chaos when a bee made a, erm, beeline for Emma Stone during the Eddington premiere.
The La La Land star was standing between her co-stars Austin Butler and Pedro Pascal when she noticed the bee heading straight for her.
The Oscar winner attempted to swat it away, before Elvis star Butler nobly tried his luck, blowing air at the insect instead to change its course.
Finally, Pascal pushed it away with his hand as Stone ducked out of the way.

Nobody was stung, fortunately, but the resulting photos were hilarious.
The French Riviera's annual film festival continues this week, so who knows what other weird and wonderful critters lie in wait...
