‘First outing: Brownlow’: AFL star and wife’s huge reveal before hitting the red carpet
AFL star Bailey Banfield and his wife Julia shared some big news moments before emerging on the Brownlow Medal red carpet: they’re expecting their first baby!
The pair made the exciting announcement on their Instagram accounts just minutes before walking the red carpet at AFL’s night of nights.

The post included a video of the pair dressed up for the event in the hallway of a hotel, kissing each other before the Fremantle Dockers player pulls out a sonogram image from behind his back and shows it to the camera.
“5 months of growing our little girl🤍 First outing [the Brownlow],” the Banfields’ caption read.
Other pictures in the post included a video of the sonogram sticking out of Julia’s pearl bag, as well as Polaroids of the pair dressed up in their Brownlow outfits.

In one, Bailey hugs Julia from behind, cradling her bump.
Their friends, family and fans took to the comments to congratulate the couple.
“The most glam pregnancy hard launch obsessed,” radio presenter Bridget Hustwaite commented.
“The most iconic of pregnancy announcements 🤩 couldn’t be more excited to meet baby girl,” a friend of the couple wrote.
Just an hour later, the couple, who tied the knot in October last year, made their appearance on the red carpet.

Julia wasn’t the only glowing mum-to-be on the Brownlow red carpet.
Bella Petracca, the wife of Gold Coast Suns star Christian, let her bump shine in a beautiful silver gown as she had her moment.
The couple announced they are expecting their first child back in June.

AFLW player-turned-TV presenter Abbey Holmes, who is pregnant with her second child, hit the red carpet in a stunning shade of burgundy.
Holmes wrote on Instagram: “Thanks to my amazing glam team for making this mumma feel pretty”.
